From one of my favourite beauty brands, Crabtree & Evelyn, comes a new line of everyday skincare products, one of which I've been trying out for the past 1 month and have finally been able to get down to reviewing! Crabtree & Evelyn's The Damask Rose Everyday Skincare Collection features sensorial products with botanical-based formulas that make daily skincare an appealing ritual.

The Damask Rose Everyday Skincare Collection is formulated with natural ingredients chosen for their ability to deeply moisturise and rejuvenate even dry and sensitive skin. I'm an oily-combination skin type with sensitive skin and living in a hot tropical climate such as Singapore can prove to be even more detrimental to our skin so I was excited to see if these products would be suitable for our weather.

I chose the Freshening Cleansing Lotion, Relaxing Micellar Water and Hydrating Day Lotion to cleanse, tone and moisturise respectively.

The first step to a healthier, smoother complexion is to prep the skin by removing all impurities from the skin’s surface to create a ‘blank canvas’. When the skin is thoroughly cleansed, it will more readily receive the benefits from the moisturisers applied afterwards.

This lightweight water cleanser gently dissolves all traces of makeup leaving my skin feeling fresh and hydrated. At the heart of this gentle cleanser is the French damask rose blended with aureobasidium pullulans that helps clear dirt and debris from the skin’s surface while nutrient-ric ice plant helps to purify.

Simply shake to instantly blend the oils and actives and apply onto a cotton pad and sweep over face. I love how gentle this cleansing lotion but I find that is only sufficient to clean the face and not strong enough for mascaras or liquid eye liners.

Secondly, tone! Toning is a step that many women seem to deem unimportant but is actually a vital step to condition and rebalance the skin and help the rest of your skincare products to work more efficiently.

Tone your skin with this intensely moisturising blend of French damask rose, hollyhock and rose of Jericho that helps to improve the skin’s flexibility and resilience.

Moisturisers and masks encourage skin to achieve its full potential. Following cleansing and toning, protect and nourish the skin to lock in all the moisture.

This lightweight moisturiser infused with an array of skin-quenching botanicals provides long lasting hydration. Formulated with French damask rose to nourish the skin and improve tone and texture while aureobasidium pulluans makes skin appear firmer. Nutrient dense green caviar and ice plant boost moisture levels and macadamia helps skin glow with youthful vitality.

I love the consistency of this moisturiser, it's almost a blend of gel and water and makes my skin feel so comfortable when I apply it on, and I only need less than a 10-cent coin size which makes this product value for its money!

Massage a small amount over cleansed and toned face, neck and décolletage, working upwards in circular motions. It’s even gentle enough to be used around the eye area! It absorbs into the skin quickly and doesn’t leave a sticky residue.

Almost every other day, I would indulge myself in a mask or 2. It has become a regular routine and I feel that it greatly enhances my skin’s complexion. My skin feels more supple ad hydrated and does’t oil up so quickly as compared to the past. I encourage women all ages to pamper yourself as often as possible and why not with Crabtree & Evelyn’s new Soothing Moisture Mask or Restoring Hydration Mask?

The Soothing Moisture Mask is a 10-minute instant fix that has lasting results. Other than extracts of moisturising French damask rose and antioxidant vitamin E, this mask also contains Hollyhock and rose of Jericho to improve texture and tone by drawing moisture into the skin and preventing evaporation, particularly helpful as a remedy for mature or dry skin.

Their Restoring Hydration Mask on the other hand helps to hydrate and bring a healthy glow to the complexion. Green tea helps maintain the appearance of youth, aided by the skin tightening effect of oat kernel. Also, panthenol, a derivative of vitamin B5, helps to improve moisture retention, sooth and repair.

I would suggest alternating between these 2 mask every 3 days or every day if that’s possible. Remove the mask after 10-mins and apply your regular eye products and seal off with your moisturiser.

I think the packaging can be improved but I do love the delicate scent and gentle yet effective products suitable for many skin types. I was also pleasantly surprised that their pricing is very reasonable and I'm sure this would open up many options for young girls and women who are on a budget spending.

Finally, some photos from the launch that was held last month at their Takashimiya S.C. flagship store.

Thanks for reading and I'll be back soon with another review! Have a great weekend sweets :)

My first time using a cream foundation and I am pleasantly surprised that I liked how it transfers onto my skin. Feels slightly balmy and creamy even. I use the sponge to dab onto my face and where it's most delicate around my eyes, I would use my fingers to gently pat til' there are the product blends seamlessly into my skin. Coverage is a light to medium one and has quite a good lasting power (5-6 hours).

Since I only use a portion of the sponge to apply the product, I would recommend washing it once a week to make sure it's clean for each application!

Available in 2 shades: Light Beige and Natural Beige

I was sent Peachy Lady and I love the shade and how well-pigmented the formula is. Its silky powder contains light mineral base extract to provide a natural and long lasting look. Only wished the brush that came with the packaging was a tad bigger, would have aid in giving the application a more consistent one.

Available in 3 shades: Pinky Barbie, Peachy Lady and Sunny Sweetie

Formulated especially to target spots/ blemishes and acnes, 1028's TA Spot Corrective Concealer contains 2% of Tranexamic Acid which helps to lighten dark spots while its tea tree extract reduces inflammation of acnes and improve healing process.

You only need a tiny bit to achieve a good amount of coverage and the other benefit is that it comes with SPF15. It looks very natural on the skin and is quite long lasting.

Available in 2 shades: Light Beige and Natural Beige

And here's the final look:

What'dya think?

You can find these items at selected SASA stores - 100AM, Wisma Atria, Jurong Point, Parkway Parade, Bedok Mall, Lot 1, Causeway Point, Plaza Singapura, Vivo City, Tampines One, Westgate, Junction 8, Novena Square, Great World City.

Hope you enjoyed this short review! Good luck! :)

1. UV Bright

Before I knew about this amazing product and its benefits, I usually gone straight to drinking water in the morning but for the past year, this is all I’ve been consuming before water. You might be wondering then, what does it do?

It’s a health supplement drink packed with loads of antioxidants and efficient whitening actives engineered to block out sun rays and treat dry skin, spots, wrinkles and melanin deposition.

This combined with a good sunblock is all you need to combat the blazing sun in Singapore. Since its a health supplement, it can get quite costly to maintain at SGDa bottle
2. Water
There’s a reason why my skin has been feeling and looking more hydrated throughout the years. That’s because I implemented the daily 2 litres on myself, and everyday I should at least consume 2 litres of water starting with 1 big glass when I wake up. It is still as important, if not the most important aspect in my skincare ritual, that is, to constantly hydrate my body throughout the day just because our body needs it to function properly.
There are so many benefits to drinking water, and here I’m naming a few just to get you started! This readily available natural appetite suppressant helps reduce hunger, increase your metabolism and comes with zero calories if you’re thinking of shedding a few kilos. Water also moisturises your skin, keeping it soft, supple and glowing and is FREE! So start bringing a bottle of water around ( I drink only boiled water from home) and it will start becoming a habit, you won’t feel like it’s a chore.
3. Biotherm LIFE Plankton Toner
I used to think that toners aren’t as important as we can skip past it but since I’ve started using the Biotherm Life Plankton toner, my skin has only felt more fresh and hydrated in the day and doesn’t produce oil sebum easily. Life Plankton is a micro-organism with fundamental regenerative properties and I would tap a generous amount onto my face and neck and within a week of using this product, I’ve seen the effects of newer, younger looking skin and that’s why there’s only half a bottle left now.
4. Clarins Extra-Firming Eye Cream
I am currently using this product for around my eyes and so far, it’s been working amazing on me. Initially I thought a cream base would be too nourishing but turns out, it has the right texture and consistency and delivers all the right kind of benefits for me. It helps firm and contour, slows down the formation of dark circles and eye bags and provides an immediate "lifting" effect.
5. Clarins Serum / Guerlain Serum
Since hydration is the leading weapon against wrinkles, serums have been an essential for me. Guerlain's intense age-defying hydration combined with absolute comfort is a wrinkle plumper with super light texture. It blends and glides onto the skin so easily and doesn't make me feel like I have much on at all!

6. Biotherm  AquaSource

During the day, I like to use Biotherm's Aquasource, a 48hr deep hydration replenishing gel thatgives skin a healthy radiance, leaving a plump and silky feeling. It dries up really quickly without having to feel sticky which I appreciate because my skin can oxidize very quickly on hot days so this product helps lock in moisture without feeling suffocating. Selecting the right moisturiser for your skin type is important because that will be your base before putting on any kind of makeup/foundation so keep it light and fresh and it will help your makeup last all day instead of oozing oil.

7. Senka UV Protection

I can't stress how crucial it is to put on sunscreen but other than protecting yourself against skin cancer, wearing sunscreen also helps prevent facial brown spots and skin discolorations, reduce the appearance of facial red veins and patchiness and slows down the development of wrinkled, premature aging skin.

Throwback to a month ago when I finished a short series of photos at Greenwich with Leng Keong, I always love how our photos turn out and this time it was no different.

I mixed and matched the bright yellow crochet top (such a happy colour ain't it?) with a high-waisted skirt that seems perfect for weekend getaways! Both materials feel really comfortable and you don't get the stuffy feeling when you put them on for too long which is a huge plus due to our humid weather in Singapore.

Til' my next entry, good luck! :)

The new KissKiss Shaping Cream Lip Colours are now in stores! In an iconic black, glossy cube tube reminiscent of a woman's sexy silhouettte, there are 24 new shades to pick from for any occasion!

I picked out Rouge Kiss in 325, a bold, sexy red colour that would love sublime in any LBD combination. It has a creamy texture and glides on like butter but feels extremely light and moisturing even after prolonged wear. Most importantly, it doesn't bleed out and the formula is amazing with good coverage!

Check out the new range at all Guerlain outlets, I doubt you'll leave empty handed.

I've been wanting to review a new range cologne that has recently arrived our shores and charmed many experienced noses at its soft launch at Escentials.

Atelier Cologne was born out of a serendipitous encounter between Sylvie Ganter and Christophe Cervasel. Perfume had always been their passion and their profession, with both having equally strong  backgrounds in the fragrance departments.

Their dream was to create colognes of character to be worn as pure perfume, while exalting the characteristic and magic freshness of cologne. Together, they present to you Cologne Absolue.

I loved the way Christophe illustrated how he met his wife, how their chance meeting gave birth to  Atelier Cologne. Second thing I love about the range is that all smell distinctively different on their but are still able to layer on one another if you wanna.
My 2 favourite picks are:

Christophe was extremely smart to have 'opened the show' with this happy, exuberant scent, Orange Sanguine (100ml, SGD170). It smells exactly like freshly peeled orange skin, the kind of scent you'd wear out for a picnic with friends, laughing and celebrating youth, sunshine and breakfast moments.

Top notes
blood orange from Italy
bitter orange from Seville
red mandarin from Italy

Heart notes
jasmine from Egypt
geranium from South Africa
black pepper from Madagascar

Base notes
tonka bean from Brazil
sandalwood from Indonesia
cedarwood from Texas

The other fragrance that tore me apart, which I eventually bagged home is Oolang Infini (100ml, SGD200). This is what I would wear on a daily basis, it smells just like how I'd wanna smell, firm, collected and understated.
A scent that makes you wanna go back to it again and again and again, like a baby's scent lol. It's so easy to be comfortable in it, the soft musky scent settling in for long periods of time without having to re-apply it again  throughout the day. Definitely lasting and worth every penny paid.

Top notes
bergamot from Calabria
Tunisian neroli

Heart notes
oolang tea
jasmine from Egypt
blond leather

Base notes
tobacco flower from the Balkans
gaiac wood from India

Now available at: Escentials Paragon #03-02/05 and Escentials Tangs Beauty 1.

Earlier last month, I attended a meaningful event with Ivan at LV's Island Maison. Makeup was my own while my hair was done at Next Salon Ion before I met up with Ivan at Marina Bay Singapore,

Hosted by Gregory O'Neil from BCD Travels, it was a charity gala to raise funds for the kids at Jamiyah Children's  Home through a silent auction and I am very happy that to have been a part of this and help them spread the word and generate more awareness for their home.

You can lend a hand by making a small donation or even by giving away food or donations in kind(toys, apparels etc).

Learn more about it on their website here or on their Facebook page.

Thank you again for reading this post, I shall pack up some of stuff for the kids and I already feel like volunteering once my health gets better!

Have a great mid-week and I'll see you all soon!

I'm doing something new and exciting today! I'll be having my first guest blogger bloggging for me and I'm exhilarated that that person is none other than my boo Anna Francesca Rodriguez from Wynterflakes.com!

I'll leave you in good hands and do let us know what you think/feel about this guest blogging thing cos' I hope we can do this more often!

When we think of chill-out bars, we imagine fancy, city-lighted, just-left-the-office-businesssuit-cladded men hanging out on a friday night. At least for me, that’s the image that comes to mind. The last setting one could ever imagine is being surrounded by greenery all over in such a place; but that’s exactly what you’ll find at Kakis Bistro and Bar which makes it pleasantly different from the bars we are familiar with.

Located at Farnborough Road at Changi Village. Yes, it is a bit far and away from the city, but this is, in my opinion, what gives it its charm. Gwen brought me along their Chill-Eat-Drink session just so we could catch up and hang out that day. Isn’t she the sweetest?

We parked quite far away and had to walk to reach there, which is just sad because we didn’t know there was free parking on site! Upon arriving, we were ushered in into what seemed to be a huge garden; rightly so because all the greens that they serve on the menu all come from the place itself. It couldn’t get any fresher than this!

The ambience is definitely relaxing and soothing; a far cry from our busy, fast paced life, thus a good place to just chill and hang out with friends.

Prawn Alioli with Homegrown Lemongrass & Coriander
The prawns are served medium rare and are plump and juicy when chewed; certainly fresher than your average shrimp. The lemongrass and coriander adds an even more refreshing taste to this dish. Too bad for Gwen that she can’t eat to shrimp-- I had it all to myself. *grins*

Stir Fry Button Mushroom with Homegrown Kaffir Leaf, Shallots and White Wine
We loved this offering! The mushrooms were cooked just nicely and were not at all soggy as some might turn out when cooked with a bit of sauce. Needless as it is to keep repeating that the produce are all very fresh, they truly are and is what makes their food worth the visit.

Chicken Quesadilla with Home Made Salsa
The quesadillas are thin and light; definitely not overwhelming to the palate. The chicken itself is soft and matches well with the semi-crispy tortilla, although I feel that they could add more serving of the salsa. After all, isn’t that what we’re always after?

Fries Addiction (In-house special seasoning)
They are very generous in serving size when it comes to fries, the two of us almost cannot finish the amount that they gave us! Although unsure of the seasoning’s composition, it is indeed tastier than your average bar counter fries.

Aglio Olio (w/ fusion taste of home grown kaffir leaf)
Served with prawns cooked in similar style to the Prawn Alioli above, their Aglio Olio is well cooked, as with the rest of the food they served us. Not too oily and not too creamy, it’s definitely a good choice for pasta lovers.

I have to be honest that by the time the Fish and Chips were served, I was quite full already. It’s served with salad and cooked the way fish in Fish and Chips, in my opinion, should be--crispy on the outside, soft and juicy on the inside.

Red Velvet Cake
For dessert, we were served their signature red velvet cake. I like the fact that it wasn’t too sweet to the taste and though it’s not as moist as other cakes, it was a great way to end our meal.

They offer a lot of fun activities and that night we were also taught how to make our own drinks by the bartender!

One last thing worth mentioning is the great band that plays at Kakis--it is what made us stay so late that night. We got to chat with them for a while and such cool and down to earth people they are! They’re very friendly and open to requests, and even though Gwen asked them to cover a difficult song, they agreed to play it with a just a few cheering, and they delivered it excellently, too.

It’s best to go to Kakis at night time as it will be much cooler with all the greenery and sans the intense heat of the sun. It is relaxing and great for those who want to stay away from the hustle and bustle of the city and would like to have a fun evening with friends and music.

Must admit that the downside is its location; a bit far from any MRT and suitable for those who come by car or by bus (Changi Golf Course Bus Stop 99049, Buses 2, 9, 19, 59, 89, 109)

As for the food and I’ve reiterated so many times in this post, the dishes served are all very fresh and succulent and will not leave you hungry during your stay there!
