WIMBLY LU REVIEW

Met up with my lovely gal, Jaselin for afternoon tea yesterday. She got wind that i hadn't been feeling well lately so decided to asked me out for a cheer-me-ups, ain't that sweeet?!

She picked me up and brought me to this place, Wimbly Lu near Serangoon. I'd googled it previously and read pretty good reviews about this place and had already decided what i wanted to order before we reached!

Wimbly Lu's tucked away in a corner round Lorong Chuan in an estate of landed houses. It was quiet outside and had a dark exterior, and I couldn't quite see what's inside until i stepped in. It felt like i was in an aviary! I don't know why but normally air-conditioned cafes are sheltered, away from the sun but this one had glass doors and ceilings. The sun was really bright and shone right through the glass panels above and i liked the warmth but the sun was very reflective against the glass tables and that kinda hurt my eyes a little. The further end of the cafe was decorated with mismatched chairs, red paper hearts and lots of faux green grass patches that made the place feel more romantic and light-hearted.

Jaselin heard that they serve really yummy Molten Chocolate Lava so she ordered that for us to share and i ordered their Waffles with homemade Salted Caramel Icecream and Maple Syrup. So typical of me hahaha.

The Molten Chocolate Lava was served real hot and had a really smooth texture to it, it was a little too intense for my liking cos' i'm not a fan of dark chocolate but the chocolate was really runny and i really liked the rich gooey texture to it (minus the bitter aftertaste).

Perhaps it would've been better (for me) if i'd eaten it with some icecream to kind of even out the rich, bitter taste. But ah well, that didn't cross my mind at that time..

On the other hand.. I LOVED THEIR WAFFLES! Isn't it a beautiful shade of golden brown?! So light and crisp on the outside, fluffy on the inside. It tasted great on its own but even better with maple syrup and icecream! I'd go back for these any day of the week!

On the whole, i think this place's great for afternoon chill-outs, when the sun isn't scorching.. haha and the desserts we had were pretty good! So it's a 7/10 for me! :)
