A visit to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse left us more than just tummies filled and our palates delighted.

At Ruth's Chris, they have an all-steak menu that's bound to tempt most discerning steak lovers, complemented by an incredible array of appetisers and sides.

The restaurant is located on the 4th level at the Marina Mandarin Hotel. We arrived promptly and were seated at a cosy corner near the window.

Their plush rosewood interiors were elegant and welcoming and was more casual than we had expected. The servers were affable and attentive and introduced us their menu patiently. Overall, they had an enthusiastic and positive vibe that brought our dining experience up a notch.

Fooling around with the camera while deciding what to order..

Before the appetisers, we were served with a freshly baked loaf of bread. I was so hungry i literally finished it on my own. It tasted soo good with just butter!

Ruth's Chopped Salad - A cool mix of Julienne iceberg lettuce, baby spinach and radicchio tossed with red onions, mushrooms, green olives, bacon, eggs. hearts of palm, croutons, bleu cheese, lemon basil dressing topped with crispy onions. This salad is an explosion of tastes that's beautifully presented which might not be a dish that will please everyone's palates.

The first bite usually tastes sweet, and once i started chewing on my food, a multitude of tastes starts hitting me, depending on what i put into my mouth. The bleu cheese adds a whole different dimension to the dish, which tasted salty initially and ended with a bitter aftertaste. I'm not exactly fond of it but my friends appreciated this adventurous mix of greens.

Sizzling Blue Crab Cakes - These jumbo lump crab cakes were one of the highlights of the night. Moist  and succulent. The crab meat was sweet and savoury and each bite tasted better than the last. All of us had nothing but high praises for this dish.

We were debating which steaks to order and finally settled on the Petit Filet and the Porterhouse Steak.

All of Ruth's Chris's signature steaks are USDA Prime Graded Beef served sizzling on a 500° plate. It holds true to it's reputation as "every bite is as delicious as its first".

The Petit Filet was quite tender but a tad dry but still good compared to the one i had at Cut MBS. We requested for a change of hot plates whenever we felt that the steaks were getting cold and we all agreed this service is exceptionally clever as it helps retains the juiciness and  flavour of the steak.

The Porterhouse was the star of the night. The beef is well-cut and extremely tender and juicy and just sooo flavourful. I highly recommend this steak which is about 680 grams, just enough to share with a partner. The Porterhouse for 2 is more than 1kg and that would have been too much for the 4 of us to savour. This is definitely one of the best waygu steaks i've had my whole life, absolutely mouth-watering.

Dip the steak in a fresh hot plate drizzled in butter, salt and parsley to enhance the flavour.

In between our mains, we also had their Chef recommened Potatoes Lyonnaise, sliced pan-fried potaties sautéed with onions.

Before ordering desserts, the Maitre D’ brought in a variety of sweet courses to give us an idea of how big the portions would be.

Molten Lava Cake

Warm Apple Crumb Tart

Bread Pudding with Whiskey Sauce

Caramelized Banana Cream Pie

We shared this dessert amongst the 4 of us which was just nice since we were already filled to our brims. The pie was delightful. The thick crust helped balanced out the caramelized bananas and custard which are quite sweet if eaten on its own. But we liked it!

My friends and i enjoyed our dinner thoroughly, from the time we walked in to moment when we left the restaurant. The staff were well-prepared and caring. Case in point, my friend scalded her finger when she accidentally pushed the hot plates across the table, the staff returned with a burnt cream to help sooth the pain.

The steaks were well-executed and beautifully presented and i couldn't have better things to say about Ruth's Chris! If i had to rate my experience, it would be a 8.8/10. Ruth's Chris is giving Morton's a run for their money! Definitely going back for more soon!
