CHOCK FULL OF BEANS REVIEW

Sunday morning, Alene, Anna and i decided to meet up for brunch at Chock Full of Beans located at Changi Village. A little out of the way but we made it anyways! I'm not sure if you can make reservations by phone but when i arrived at 11am, there was already a long queue and we had to wait about 20mins before our table was ready.

Anyway these 2 girls are hilarious, when i met Anna first, she was decked out in a rocker-chic embellished denim dress that looked stunning on her. Then half an hr later, Alene arrived in an almost similar denim dress in a darker, sexier cut. Hahaha i was really amused because they were dressed like frenemies going to the same party later XD

Regardless, both of em' looked so pretty that day!

We knew what we wanted to order as soon as we got the menus.

Because all of us ordered pretty much similar mains, i can't really comment on how the other dishes fare compared to the ones we had.

The Egg's Ben/Atlantic/Portobello were average. Our eggs were perfectly poached, but i thought their Homemade Toast was slightly underwhelming and the salad needed more oomph a la dressing.
The ham, salmon and portobello tasted like they normally would, nothing more, nothing less.
Alene's poached egg had a little puddle of water so i think that turned her off a little as it looked unpleasant and made the toast slightly soggy.

Our Vanilla and Hazelnut Lattes were far more entertaining as we spent a good 15 minutes snapping photos of the kawaii latte art! Don't you think the teddy bear's absolutely irresistible? Also, it tasted as good as it looked so that's 2 thumbs up for me!

Service was prompt and friendly but slightly forgetful as we had our mains but not our cutlery for a good 10 mins after they arrived. It was all right though, we were busy camwhoring anyway.

I used to work around the district before going to Uni and back then, it didn't have hip brunchy establishments like these.
(Digressing..) I love the hawker food here, they have one of the most authentic Wanton Mee, Goreng Pisang, Horfun and Carrot Cake!
Most of the folks are dressed down doing their usual sunday routine, bringing their own sunday papers and having kopi. I like the vibe in this restaurant, cos' it's unlike anywhere else in this ulu area and thus, quite a gem :) Overall, a 7/10 for me!

Brunch with the girls really cheered me up, i almost cancelled it the night before but i'm so glad i went in the end! It was awesome company, thanks babes
