GOODBYE 2014, HELLO 2015
2014 is officially over. And I can't say I miss it.
The beginning of 2014 has been an absolute high, and then within a blink of an eye, I was thrown into an abyss of shame and helplessness. Like quicksand that almost swallowed me alive, I thought I'd never see the light of day again. Yet despite all that has happened, a few good things did come out of it. After being pulled out of quicksand, I experienced a gasp of fresh air, though at first groggy and disoriented, I gradually found my footing again but not without help from the most unlikely persons. Moving on, the year was definitely one of many struggles and setbacks.
I want to specially thank all the angels who saw me through the darkest period of my life. My family for loving me regardless and for believing in me when I had given up all hope. M who supported and stood by me at my weakest and my cousin who helped fight my inner demons with me, for choosing to believe in me and help build back my once shattered confidence.
I have learnt more about myself in the past 6 months than in the last 27 years of my life. I guess it's through these trials and tribulations that we learn to grow up, stand on our feet and fight for the things we believe in.
Most importantly, I learnt to have faith in things we cannot see and may not always have control over. In God, for He will always be there to shelter me, guide me and steer me towards the way.
I hope in 2015, I will learn to be wiser, to be more patient and learn to accept that things may not always go my way but will still turn out okay. To have more grit, self-love and exercise more self-restrain.
We all have a fear for the unknown but like Charles F. Glassman puts it, “fear and anxiety many times indicates that we are moving in a positive direction, out of the safe confines of our comfort zone, and in the direction of our true purpose.”
I wish you all a Happy 2015 ahead and may you find courage, love and light to take you to the places you wanna be.
On a sidenote, I've written my first beauty article for GetKlarity,
